1) In a major move to boost India’s energy security and enhance domestic coal output, the Ministry of Coal launched the 13th Round of Commercial Coal Mine Auctions in New Delhi.
➨ The event was attended by Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy as the Chief Guest and Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey as the Guest of Honour.

2) The Bihar government has decided to double the pension for ‘JP Senanis’—activists imprisoned during the Emergency for backing Jayaprakash Narayan’s movement. Under the revised scheme, those jailed for over six months will now get ₹30,000 per month (earlier ₹15,000), while others will receive ₹15,000.

8) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a FASTag Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, which will be valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, and is applicable exclusively to non-commercial vehicles.

9) Indian Naval Ships INS Jyoti and INS Rana arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to participate in the 12th India–Sri Lanka Bilateral Maritime Exercise (SLINEX-2025).


10) The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) unveiled India’s first property rating framework, designed to assess and grade properties based on the quality of their digital connectivity.

11) The mascot and logo of the Khelo India Water Sports Festival were unveiled in Srinagar. The event, scheduled at Dal Lake from August 21–23, will witness the participation of around 400 athletes.

12) A space laboratory was inaugurated in Shi-Yomi district, Arunachal Pradesh, set up in collaboration with ISRO and the Muskan Foundation, and named in honor of Pasang Wangchuck Sona.

13) Maharashtra has launched ‘Disha Abhiyan’, India’s first uniform syllabus programme for intellectually challenged students, which will be implemented across 453 special schools in the state.

14) Girish Gupta of India won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol men’s youth event at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, with a score of 241.3 in the final. His compatriot Dev Pratap (14 years old) secured the silver medal with a score of 238.6.
