1) Senior BJP leader La Ganesan, who had been serving as the Governor of Nagaland since February 2023, passed away in Chennai.
➨ Following his demise, President Droupadi Murmu assigned Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla the additional charge of Governor of Nagaland.

2) Jharkhand Women’s Hockey Team clinched the 15th Junior National Women’s Hockey Championship 2025 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, defeating Haryana 2–1.

2) Bibi Fatima Women’s Self Help Group from Tirtha village, Dharwad, Karnataka won the Equator Initiative Award 2025 by UNDP, becoming the only Indian winner among 10 global awardees.

4) Namrata Batra made history by winning India’s first-ever medal in Wushu at the World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China, where she claimed the silver medal in the women’s 52 kg category.

5) The Union Cabinet has cleared the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) with a budget of ₹2,481 crore, aimed at advancing chemical-free farming and fostering climate-resilient agriculture.

6) The Union Health Ministry introduced SHRESTH (State Health Regulatory Excellence Index) to evaluate and enhance the performance of state drug regulatory systems through a transparent, data-driven framework.

7) Shubman Gill, the captain of India’s Test team, was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2025 after amassing 567 runs in three Tests, which included a double century and two centuries.

8) The Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025 was passed, which renames the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) as the National Mineral Exploration and Development Trust (NMEDT) and abolishes the 50% cap on mineral sales from captive mines.

9) India and Australia convened their 7th round of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Talks in New Delhi, where discussions focused on nuclear, chemical, and biological disarmament, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in military applications.

10) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla set up a three-member inquiry panel to probe corruption allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma, with the committee comprising Supreme Court Judge Aravind Kumar, Madras High Court Chief Justice Maninder Mohan Shrivastava, and senior advocate B.V. Acharya.

11) The government approved the MERITE scheme (Multidisciplinary Education & Research Improvement in Technical Education) to enhance the quality of technical education in line with NEP 2020, with partial funding support from the World Bank.

12) At its 84th convocation ceremony held at Tagore Auditorium, Hyderabad, Osmania University awarded a record 1,261 PhD degrees.
➨ On the occasion, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan was honored with the university’s 50th honorary doctorate in recognition of his outstanding contributions to India’s space program.
